ELLENTON, FL – A 78-year-old man passed away, and a 23-year-old man was taken to HCA Florida Blake Hospital following a left-turn collision Monday.

Bradenton Herald said the events unfolded before 6:45 a.m. when the elderly man tried to turn left from Colony Drive South onto U.S. 301 South and crashed his pickup truck into a Hyundai Sonata. Once the vehicles collided, the car was thrust into a grassy shoulder and the truck into a paved shoulder. Florida Highway Patrol said the pickup truck driver was traveling south and the car driver north at the time of the wreck. 

Troopers confirmed the 78-year-old man, an Ellenton local, did not wear a seatbelt but did not specify if the 23-year-old man, also from the area, wore a seatbelt as well. Nonetheless, the elderly man perished at the scene, and EMS crews took the surviving driver to the hospital.

TAMPA, FL – A 26-year-old woman was rushed to a hospital where she died after she crashed her SUV into an abandoned car along I-275 South Monday. 

FOX 13 News said the collision took place before 1 p.m. The woman had suddenly lost control of her automobile and collided with the Dodge Dart. The woman’s car overturned and eventually stopped on the outside shoulder, and the other vehicle, a Dodge Dart, stopped on the inside shoulder. 

Florida Highway Patrol said the victim was from Zephyrhills. At this time, they are working to pinpoint the events behind the fatal wreck and have no additional information.

TAMPA, FL – A 47-year-old woman lost her life, and a 42-year-old man was injured in a motorcycle rollover collision on Veterans Expressway North Friday. 

Florida Highway Patrol told ABC Action News that the Harley Davidson overturned after its tire fell off. The man from Apollo Beach and the woman were immediately thrown from the bike. 

EMS crews rushed the occupants to the local hospital, where the woman passed away.

BRANDON, FL – Hillsborough County deputies are currently in the Orient Park area investigating the details of a crash that injured at least one person. 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was summoned to the scene, the intersection of North U.S. Highway 301 and Tampa East Boulevard, at 1:23 p.m. 

Deputies have not been able to confirm the contributing factors behind this crash since the investigation is in the preliminary stages. At this time, authorities have not been able to comment on the severity of injuries sustained or confirmed reports of hospitalizations.

CLEARWATER, FL – A 69-year-old man walking on Ulmerton Road was killed when he was hit by two cars near the St. Petersburg International Airport last Saturday. 

The Patch said this collision took place before 3 a.m. on the eastbound lanes. Florida Highway Patrol said the man was first run over by a Honda Odyssey and then a Nissan Sentra. 

Troopers identified the Honda driver as a 36-year-old man, a Clearwater local, and the Nissan motorist as a 39-year-old man from Cutler Bay. At this time, they did not say if either driver yielded to the pedestrian or would be charged for their involvement in this crash.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – A multi-vehicle wrong-way crash on I-275 South ended in a driver’s arrest and sent a man to a hospital last Sunday, Jan 5. 

According to ABC Action News, the collision happened when the wrong-way driver, identified as 49-year-old Rontonio Scott, drove north on I-275 South and then hit another vehicle. Once these vehicles collided, one of them collided with three others on the road. 

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene and confirmed that Scott had a significant blood alcohol content level and arrested him. EMS crews transported one man to a nearby medical facility for treatment of pelvis, femur, liver, and ankle injuries and for surgery to remove his spleen.

TAMPA, FL – A Ford Mustang driver tried to merge into another lane on Veterans Expressway, leading to a crash with a Tesla Model 3 and injuring both motorists Tuesday. 

According to FOX 13 News, this collision happened before 6 a.m. on the southbound lanes near the exit to Waters Avenue. The Mustang driver hit a barrier wall prior to striking the moving Tesla. Ambulance crews took the Tesla motorist, a 35-year-old man, and the Mustang driver, a 58-year-old man, a Spring Hill resident, to the hospital for treatment of minor wounds. 

Crews shut down all southbound lanes to accommodate the scene clearance process and later reopened the area.

DOVER, FL – A 53-year-old man walking along the railroad tracks passed away when he was struck by an Amtrak train Saturday. 

This collision took place in the area of Sydney Dover Road and East Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). 

Authorities later identified the man as Andres Pop-Tulip.

TAMPA, FL – As of Thursday night, Tampa police confirmed they arrested a man responsible for a four-vehicle crash in Terrace Park that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman last Friday, Jan 3. 

Police identified the man as 67-year-old Gary Manist, according to the Tampa Bay Times

Officers said Manist was driving 100 mph on southbound McKinley Drive when he (driving a Dodge Ram 2500) struck the driver of the Kia Sorento, the 26-year-old woman, later identified as Paige Howard, from Tarpon Springs, turning left onto Bougainvillea Avenue.

PLANT CITY, FL – A chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles on I-4 sent seven people to a hospital Thursday morning, according to FOX 13 News

The events unfolded around 6 a.m., just before the Thonotosassa Road exit, when the driver of a Hyundai van rear-ended a Chevy Tahoe, forcing the Chevy to crash into the back of a Chevy Silverado. 

The driver of the Silverado sustained minor wounds that did not require a trip to the hospital, while the four Hyundai van passengers and three people inside the Chevy Tahoe were hospitalized for serious lacerations.
