LAKELAND, FL – A box truck driver who turned right onto Main Street struck a male pedestrian walking, sending the walker to a hospital where he later passed away Thursday.
The collision happened around 3:45 a.m. while the pedestrian was walking on a lane on northbound Combee Road, according to Fox13News.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the driver was unharmed and remained at the scene. They suspect the driver will not face charges.
Deputies closed Combee Road for three hours before reopening it later. At this time, they have not released the pedestrian’s identity.
