NORTHEAST TAMPA, FL – A bicyclist suffered fatal injuries after getting hit by a vehicle on 50th Street Thursday, WFLA reports.
Tampa police said the cyclist died at the scene. Officers confirmed that the female driver remained at the crash site. It is unclear if she will face criminal charges.
Police are actively working to determine the events that led to the wreck.
At this time, the southbound directions of 50th, starting at Melbourne Avenue and ending at I-4, remain closed. Commuters are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes during the scene clearance process.
