News: Man, 23, fatally hit by car while trying to rescue dog in Tampa

TAMPA, FL – A 23-year-old man passed away while trying to save his dog from getting struck by on-coming vehicles Thursday, ABC Action News revealed.

Florida Highway Patrol said that before the man was struck, he had parked his car to help his girlfriend, who was involved in a car. Upon getting out, his doberman followed him and then went into on-coming traffic. Despite the man’s best efforts to retrieve his dog, he was hit, leading him to succumb to fatal wounds.

Troopers confirmed the man was taken to a hospital, where he died, and the driver who hit him, a 31-year-old woman, was unharmed. They, however, did not specify where the crash happened.

It is not exactly clear if the woman will be charged.
