SARASOTA, FL – A truck driver was turning left in the University Park area when he collided with a motorcycle, leading the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old teenager, to his death Sunday.
This collision happened when the truck driver was turning onto University Parkway onto North Cattlemen Road, ABC Action News reports. When the two vehicles made contact, the motorcyclist had struck the left side of the truck, and the motorcyclist, a Sarasota local, succumbed to fatal wounds.
Florida Highway Patrol, who were the first responders summoned to the scene, said that the truck driver, a 35-year-old man, also a Sarasota resident, was spared from injuries.
FHP, who is also taking the lead on this investigation, has not mentioned any criminal charges or citations, nor have they described the contributing factors behind this wreck.
