News: 1 arrested for DUI crash that hospitalized toddler in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A 33-year-old woman was arrested for DUI after causing a collision that sent the two-year-old child with her to a hospital Friday. 

St. Petersburg Police told WTSP that this crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on southbound Dr. MLK Street South when the driver went into the opposite side of the road and slammed into a tree, which ejected the toddler, who was not properly belted. 

The child was hospitalized for serious, non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers arrested the driver, who they identified as Krista Carver, for DUI that caused serious injury, “child neglect, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury, and possession of a controlled substance.”
