TAMPA, FL – Three people were sent to a nearby hospital, and one woman in her 20s passed away after a four-vehicle collision south of University of Florida Friday.

The accident was reported before 10:15 a.m. and took place at the intersection of E Bougainvillea Ave and McKinley Drive, according to ABC Action News. The specifics of this crash remain unclear. However, officials did confirm that the third driver tried to avoid the initial collision between the two first cars but ended up plowing into a wooded area as a result, while the fourth car was struck by debris from the wreck.

Police confirmed that two out of the four vehicles were a Kia Sorento and a Dodge Ram.

At this time, officers have not released the names of the victim and those involved but verified that the Kia Sorento driver was a woman in her 20s and said the Dodge Ram was occupied by an adult passenger and driver.

The Dodge occupants and the third motorist, a man, were hospitalized for non-life-threatening wounds, while the fourth driver, a woman, was spared from injuries.
