In a society dependent on motor vehicles to get us to the places we need to go, walking can be an alternative mode of transportation to get us from point A to point B. However, pedestrians are usually more prone to serious injuries, like broken bones or spinal wounds, especially without any protection, such as seat belts used to drive cars or helmets used to ride bicycles or motorcycles.
