TAMPA, FL – A driver succumbed to fatal wounds following a solo crash that occurred along St. Joseph’s Hospital Saturday, ABC Action News reports.

Tampa police responded to the scene, the 3000th block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, before 2:45 a.m., stating that emergency medical services personnel took the motorist to a nearby hospital. There, the victim passed away.

Due to the nature of this wreck, authorities shut down the westbound and eastbound lanes of Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd., starting at North 30th Street and ending at North 34th Street, for the standard scene clearance and investigation period. During the closures, authorities redirected drivers to alternative routes.

The Tampa Police Department launched an investigation and has not released additional details at this time.
