LARGO, FL – A 56-year-old man crossing Roosevelt Boulevard lost his life after getting struck by two drivers, one of whom fled the scene Wednesday night.
The Largo Police Department believes the hit-and-run suspect, who was the first driver, was operating a dark-colored Mercury SUV or Ford when he struck the victim, according to WFLA.
The second motorist stayed at the scene.
Authorities said the walker, later identified as James Michael Lescord succumbed to fatal injuries at the crash site.
Police launched an investigation. While many details are unavailable at this time, they do believe the second driver was not impaired, although they could not comment on whether intoxication was the reason the first driver struck Lescord.
The police department is continuing to pinpoint details behind this wreck. In the meantime, they advise the public to please come forward should they have more information about Wednesday’s deadly wreck or the hit-and-run suspect’s whereabouts.
