News: Major traffic delays reported following crash near Sunshine Skyway Bridge

TAMPA, FL — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 275 near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge snarled morning traffic for commuters heading into Tampa on Thursday.

WTSP reported that the collision occurred just after 7 a.m., completely blocking all northbound lanes. Traffic camera footage from Florida 511 showed extensive backups as a result of the incident.

Authorities confirmed that injuries were sustained in the crash, though the extent and number of those injured have not been disclosed. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene.

All northbound lanes have since reopened, but residual delays are expected as traffic returns to normal flow.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Officials urge motorists to exercise caution in the area and to expect potential delays during their morning commute.
