News: Male cyclist, 83, fatally struck by car in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – An 83-year-old who rode a bicycle without wearing a helmet passed away after he was struck by a vehicle in the Historic Uptown district Friday. 

This collision happened at the 16th Street North and 5th Avenue North junction in a marked crosswalk, ABC Action News revealed.  

After arriving at the scene, an ambulance rushed the cyclist, Juan Yhanes, to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he later passed away. 

St. Petersburg Police, who were also called to the crash site, confirmed that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
