News: Man dies, woman hurt in SR-618 head-on crash in Tampa

by

TAMPA, FL – A 40-year-old woman drifted off from SR-618 West into the eastbound lanes, causing her to crash head-on with another car, claiming the life of the other driver and injuring herself in the process.

When both vehicles collided around 3 a.m. on Sunday, that’s when both vehicles, the woman’s Honda FIT and the other driver’s car, a Toyota Yaris, began to rotate, WTSP said. Seconds later, the second motorist, a 33-year-old man, an Orlando resident, slammed into a concrete barrier. Once ambulance crews arrived at the scene, they rushed the woman to a nearby hospital, where she is receiving treatment for serious wounds.

Florida Highway Patrol said the man perished at the scene. Troopers launched an investigation but have not been able to pinpoint the circumstances that played a role in this deadly collision.
