SARASOTA, FL – A 31-year-old man lost his life, and a Sarasota County deputy was rushed to a hospital following two separate crashes that happened Thursday.
The first collision, which involved the deputy, happened in the area of University Club, Fox13 News said. The details behind this specific wreck are unclear. However, what was confirmed is that the impact led the deputy to suffer non-life-threatening wounds.
The second crash happened when the 31-year-old man, driving a pickup truck on southbound Lockwood Ridge Road, went over the grassy median and then hit a telephone pole. The man, from Bradenton, succumbed to his injuries. He was the sole occupant of his vehicle.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and crews shut down the southbound lanes of Lockwood near 53rd Street to accommodate the scene clearance process.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating both collisions and has not released additional information at this time.
