SARASOTA, FL – A driver had lost control of their car, leading them to crash into the Lantern Inn & Suites tiki bar, injuring a man and a woman Monday.

According to My Sun Coast, the events unfolded around 3:30 p.m. when the driver, a 63-year-old adult, was coming from the RaceTrac gas station and lost control of the steering wheel, leading them to slam into a fence and strike the bar and the two people and the concrete wall. The debris from the wall also struck four unoccupied vehicles.

First responders said the woman, 59, was seriously injured while the man, 69, was left in critical condition.

Florida Highway Patrol was summoned to the scene and continues to investigate the circumstances behind this crash.
