TAMPA, FL – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that it was 26-year-old Jesus Manuel Nieves, an off-duty deputy, who struck a pedestrian with his car on Tuesday.
New details from Tampa Bay Times indicate that Nieves was operating a Chevy Tahoe when he struck a pedestrian, an unidentified 30-year-old man, at West Hillsborough Avenue and Memorial Highway.
The walker was trying to cross Memorial Highway. Reports verified that Nieves not only remained at the scene but also provided medical assistance to the pedestrian.
EMS crews took the pedestrian to a hospital, where he is recovering from unspecified wounds.
