TAMPA, FL – As of Thursday night, Tampa police confirmed they arrested a man responsible for a four-vehicle crash in Terrace Park that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman last Friday, Jan 3.
Police identified the man as 67-year-old Gary Manist, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Officers said Manist was driving 100 mph on southbound McKinley Drive when he (driving a Dodge Ram 2500) struck the driver of the Kia Sorento, the 26-year-old woman, later identified as Paige Howard, from Tarpon Springs, turning left onto Bougainvillea Avenue.
The driver of a Kia Forte, a man, did his best to avoid the initial collision but ended up crashing into a light pole before coming to rest in the intersection.
After arriving, first responders declared Howard, a mother of four, dead at the scene and rushed Manist, his passenger, and the motorist of the Kia Forte to a hospital for non-life-threatening wounds.
Police arrested Manist, a Pasco County resident, on Tuesday and is being held in the Pasco County Jail and faces a vehicular homicide charge.
