WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — A pre-dawn collision Wednesday claimed the life of a senior citizen, according to WTSP.
The fatal incident unfolded at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and SR-56 in Pasco County, just north of Tampa Bay.
Authorities report that a pedestrian in her late 60s attempted to cross a busy intersection against the signal. A compact sedan, operated by a young adult motorist, struck the woman as she entered the roadway.
First responders rushed the critically injured pedestrian to a nearby trauma center, where medical staff later pronounced her deceased.
The driver, a local resident in her mid-20s, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
