TAMPA, FL — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 275 near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge snarled morning traffic for commuters heading into Tampa on Thursday.

WTSP reported that the collision occurred just after 7 a.m., completely blocking all northbound lanes. Traffic camera footage from Florida 511 showed extensive backups as a result of the incident.

Authorities confirmed that injuries were sustained in the crash, though the extent and number of those injured have not been disclosed. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — A pre-dawn collision Wednesday claimed the life of a senior citizen, according to WTSP.

The fatal incident unfolded at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and SR-56 in Pasco County, just north of Tampa Bay.

Authorities report that a pedestrian in her late 60s attempted to cross a busy intersection against the signal. A compact sedan, operated by a young adult motorist, struck the woman as she entered the roadway.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Northbound Interstate 25 near north Tampa was partially blocked early Tuesday afternoon following a multi-vehicle accident, according to FL511 Tampa Bay.

Officials said the wreck occurred at Exit 52 to East Fletcher Avenue, in an area just southwest of the unincorporated community of University. It was first recorded by FL511 shortly before 1:00 p.m.

Following the collision, crews had the two right northbound lanes closed, and no estimated clearance time was immediately announced.

TAMPA, FL – A 65-year-old bicyclist died Monday morning when he was struck by a vehicle at an intersection in the Tampa area, according to WFLA.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 7:26 a.m. reporting a collision between a driver and a bicyclist at Bearss Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

Deputies arriving at the scene found the man on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

TAMPA, FL – A 23-year-old man passed away while trying to save his dog from getting struck by on-coming vehicles Thursday, ABC Action News revealed. 

Florida Highway Patrol said that before the man was struck, he had parked his car to help his girlfriend, who was involved in a car. Upon getting out, his doberman followed him and then went into on-coming traffic. Despite the man’s best efforts to retrieve his dog, he was hit, leading him to succumb to fatal wounds. 

Troopers confirmed the man was taken to a hospital, where he died, and the driver who hit him, a 31-year-old woman, was unharmed. They, however, did not specify where the crash happened.

BRADENTON, FL – A 23-year-old man driving a Chevy sedan unintentionally struck a 45-year-old man riding a bicycle, leading the cyclist to his death Monday. 

This collision occurred after 4:15 p.m. on northbound Cortez Road near 24th Street West, according to Fox 13 News. Upon arriving, first responders took the cyclist, a Bradenton resident, to Blake Medical Center, where he passed away. 

Florida Highway Patrol started an investigation and said no charges were filed against the driver, a Sarasota man. Since troopers are taking the lead on this investigation, they will not publicly announce the victim’s name.

DOVER, FL – A collision with reported injuries is currently blocking the Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard and Pettie Road junction, Florida Highway Patrol revealed. 

Troopers were dispatched to the area at approximately 8:36 a.m. and arrived at the scene around 9:02 a.m. They are investigating the events that led to this collision and have not been able to confirm the exact cause of this crash. 

In addition, FHP did not say whether the injured individual was hospitalized, nor did they list the kind of people and vehicles involved.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – At least one person lost their life Tuesday night as a result of a collision on Bay Pines Boulevard in Seminole, reports News Channel 8.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal accident took place at the intersection with 100th Way North, near Bay Pines VA Hospital. News Channel 8 first reported on the incident at 10:16 p.m.

Authorities did not immediately indicate what caused the crash, but officials had at least part of the intersection blocked off during the emergency response and initial investigation. Alternate routes around the scene were advised.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL – A woman died late last Thursday, July 11, after being struck by a Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputy vehicle while riding a bike in Osprey, reports FOX 13 Tampa Bay.

The fatal incident unfolded at the intersection of U.S. Route 41 and Bay Street, at about 11:40 p.m.

According to a preliminary investigation conducted by the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was riding a bicycle home from work when she began crossing the street on a red light. FHP officials say witnesses noted seeing the cyclist violate the right of way as she entered the path of a department vehicle driven by a 25-year-old deputy who was responding to a call and who was traveling on a green light.

TAMPA, FL – The right lane is currently blocked at the SR-574 and North 50th Street junction due to a collision with injuries that happened around 7:56 p.m. Friday. 

Florida Highway Patrol said they arrived at the scene at 8:18 p.m. They indicated that at least one person suffered wounds but did not say if they were taken to a hospital. 

In addition, troopers did not specify what kind of vehicles and people were involved.
