ENGLEWOOD, FL – A 22-year-old man lost his life after striking a tree with his car because he failed to negotiate a curve on Manasota Key Road South Thursday. 

NBC-2 said this collision happened after 10 p.m. After the man hit the tree, his vehicle overturned and then caught on fire. In addition, the trailer had unattached itself from his automobile. 

Florida Highway Patrol, who responded to the collision site, pronounced the man dead at the scene. Troopers began an investigation and have not released additional information at this time.

CLEARWATER, FL – An 80-year-old man was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he later died on Wednesday after getting struck by a driver who fled the scene Monday. 

This collision happened around 2:45 p.m. on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. ABC Action News said the pickup truck driver, 36-year-old Kris Paterson, was rushing to work when he ran over the scooter rider, later identified as Ernest Coluzzi. 

Clearwater Police, who are in charge of this investigation, said that Paterson had allegedly driven less than half a mile when he stopped to remove the mobility scooter attached to either the front or back bumper of his truck. They arrested him and booked him into the Pinellas County Jail.

Dale Mabry and Lambright Street, immediately north of Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa, are consistently congested in the afternoon, frustrating drivers looking to get home from work.

Drivers who frequent the area say it can take 3-4 traffic lights to get through, which leads to more backed up traffic.

Population growth in the area has led to traffic backups starting before 4 p.m. and continuing past 6 p.m.

TAMPA, FL – A woman crossing the South Carter Street and West Julia Street intersection lost her life after she was struck by a vehicle Wednesday. 

This collision happened before 12:30 p.m., according to Fox 13 News

Tampa Police confirmed the pedestrian, whose name has not been released, succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene. They immediately closed West Julia Street, starting at South MacDill Avenue and ending at Bayshore Boulevard.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – At least one person was left injured in a collision on northbound I-275 at mile marker 23 along Booker Creek Park Tuesday. 

Florida Highway Patrol was summoned to the crash at 6:03 p.m. and arrived at the scene at 6:55 p.m. Troopers have not blocked any lanes, mentioned the exact cause of this collision, or said if the wounded occupant was hospitalized. 

More details will be posted should they come to light.

CITRUS PARK, FL – A motorcyclist’s life was claimed after his bike collided with a vehicle along The Shoppes of Citrus Park on Friday, WTSP said. 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department said this collision happened after 5 p.m. After arriving, they closed the vicinity of Ehrlich Road and Sheldon Road to accommodate the scene clearance process. 

Deputies started an investigation and have not released other details, including the victim’s name.

RIVERVIEW, FL – At least one person was injured in a crash at U.S. 301 and Fairway Meadow Drive Friday afternoon. 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said they were summoned to the scene after 2:30 p.m. They have not arrived at the crash site and have not been able to confirm the exact cause of this collision. In addition, they have not listed the people and vehicles involved, nor have they asked if anyone needed to go to a hospital. 

New details will be provided should they become available.

PINELLAS PARK, FL – A man walking in the area of 66th Street North and 96th Avenue North was hit by a driver who left the scene, leaving him in critical condition Thursday. 

WFLA said this collision happened around 4 a.m. The man, who was not named, was also listed in stable condition, police said. 

Police have not provided an update with regard to the events leading to this crash or provided a description of the suspect or their vehicle.

TAMPA, FL – At least one person was injured in a crash that happened after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday along University of South Florida. 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office indicated this collision took place at Bruce B Downs Boulevard and East Fowler Avenue and said they arrived at the scene at approximately  5:42 p.m. 

Deputies have not disclosed the exact cause of this crash, specified the kind of people and vehicles involved, listed any lane closures, or specified the severity of injuries suffered.

SARASOTA, FL – A man attempted to cross Clark Road and, during his walk, was hit by two vehicles, leading him to succumb to fatal injuries Saturday. 

ABC Action News said this crash happened near when a sedan driver first hit him and then an SUV driver. The pedestrian, who was only identified as a 40-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the sedan driver, a 24-year-old man from Sarasota, sustained minor injuries. 

The other driver, a 34-year-old man, also from Sarasota, and his passenger, a nine-year-old child, were both unharmed.
