TAMPA, FL – As of Thursday night, Tampa police confirmed they arrested a man responsible for a four-vehicle crash in Terrace Park that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman last Friday, Jan 3. 

Police identified the man as 67-year-old Gary Manist, according to the Tampa Bay Times

Officers said Manist was driving 100 mph on southbound McKinley Drive when he (driving a Dodge Ram 2500) struck the driver of the Kia Sorento, the 26-year-old woman, later identified as Paige Howard, from Tarpon Springs, turning left onto Bougainvillea Avenue.

PLANT CITY, FL – A chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles on I-4 sent seven people to a hospital Thursday morning, according to FOX 13 News

The events unfolded around 6 a.m., just before the Thonotosassa Road exit, when the driver of a Hyundai van rear-ended a Chevy Tahoe, forcing the Chevy to crash into the back of a Chevy Silverado. 

The driver of the Silverado sustained minor wounds that did not require a trip to the hospital, while the four Hyundai van passengers and three people inside the Chevy Tahoe were hospitalized for serious lacerations.

RIVERVIEW, FL – A driver of a semi-truck was spared from injuries when their truck, carrying eggs, caught on fire and overturned on I-75 Saturday. 

According to ABC Action News, the truck caught on fire after the driver had pulled over onto the shoulder, which took place before 1 p.m. on the interstate’s southbound lanes near the Big Bend Road exit. 

Within 30 minutes of arriving, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue extinguished the flames.

TAMPA, FL – As of Monday night, police confirmed that it was a 26-year-old woman, a mother of four children, who died in a Friday morning four-vehicle wreck in Terrace Park. 

New details from ABC Action News show that the woman was 26-year-old Paige Howard. Updated information indicates that around 10:15 a.m., a driver of a Dodge Ram struck Howard on southbound McKinley Drive as she was making a left turn from East Bougainvillea Avenue, south of the University of Florida. 

Once the driver of the Dodge (accompanied by a passenger) collided with Howard, a motorist of the third vehicle, a man (the only occupant) saw what unfolded and did his best to avoid this crash, drifting before crashing into a wooded area. Debris from the wreck had scattered onto the road and struck a fourth-moving vehicle.

TAMPA, FL – Three people were sent to a nearby hospital, and one woman in her 20s passed away after a four-vehicle collision south of University of Florida Friday. 

The accident was reported before 10:15 a.m. and took place at the intersection of E Bougainvillea Ave and McKinley Drive, according to ABC Action News. The specifics of this crash remain unclear. However, officials did confirm that the third driver tried to avoid the initial collision between the two first cars but ended up plowing into a wooded area as a result, while the fourth car was struck by debris from the wreck. 

Police confirmed that two out of the four vehicles were a Kia Sorento and a Dodge Ram.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – An 18-year-old Ohio resident died following a collision Friday morning, January 3, while operating a motorcycle on Interstate 275 near St. Petersburg, according to News Channel 8.

The fatal wreck unfolded on a span of I-275 that runs on the Howard Frankland Bridge, prompting an emergency response at around. 6:44 a.m.

Officials say the victim, of Greenville, Ohio, was traveling northbound on a motorcycle when he and another motorist in an SUV collided as they approached a Road Ranger pickup truck stopped in the roadway. The initial impact caused the motorcycle to strike a barrier wall, which ejected the rider and sent him into the back of the Road Ranger’s pickup. Meanwhile, the motorcycle struck a second parked vehicle before coming to a stop.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – Authorities are investigating a wrong-way collision Wednesday morning in Brooksville that resulted in the death of a 44-year-old man, according to FOX 13 News.

The fatal crash took place on the northbound side of U.S. Route 41 at Sgt. Lea Mills Boulevard.

Investigators found that a 32-year-old man from Groveland was driving a Toyota Tacoma against traffic when the vehicle collided with a Dodge Ram traveling northbound.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A 30-year-old Seminole man died early Monday, December 30, when a police pursuit led to a crash in St. Petersburg, according to FOX 13 Tampa Bay.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Pinellas County deputies had attempted to pull over the man, who was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger, for a window tint violation.

Officials indicated that a pursuit ensued when the driver failed to stop. He was later observed driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and 7th Avenue South.

TAMPA, FL – A man was left pinned inside his pickup truck after being rear-ended by a DUI suspect Monday morning in northwest Tampa, according to WTSP.

Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Waters Avenue at around 2:43 a.m.

Officials said the suspect, 33, appeared to be under the influence when he crashed his vehicle into the back of the victim’s Dodge Ram pickup truck. The high-speed collision sent the pickup into a tree, leaving the victim with serious injuries to one of his lower legs. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in stable condition.

TAMPA, FL –  A sedan was pushed into Plant High School’s outside bleachers after its driver collided with another vehicle, which injured and sent a woman to a hospital Wednesday. 

This collision happened at 1 p.m. on the 2400th block of South Himes Avenue, according to FOX 13 News. The woman who was injured was sent to a hospital where she was listed in stable condition. 

The school’s principal, Heather Holloway, confirmed that a third driver, one of the students, was also hit by one of the vehicles while driving her car in the parking lot. Holloway said the student was okay but did not specify if she was injured or if she was sent to a hospital.
