TAMPA, FL – At least one person was injured in a crash that happened on southbound SR-589 at mile marker 9 after 6:30 a.m. 

Florida Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene at 6:46 a.m. and arrived at the collision site at 7:15 a.m. 

Troopers did not provide a formal statement regarding the exact cause of this crash, nor did they say if anyone would face charges or citations.

HOLIDAY, FL – A 32-year-old man was later booked into the Pasco County Jail after fleeing from Florida Highway Patrol and sideswiping several vehicles Monday. 

This collision happened when the man was going southbound on U.S. 19 North and struck the vehicles near Flora Avenue, according to WFLA

The man fled the scene on foot after striking the vehicles. As such, troopers lost sight of the man and called off the pursuit at US-19 and Sunray Drive. They were able to locate him thanks to help from good samaritans.

LAKELAND, FL – A 36-year-old Tampa man driving a pickup truck lost his life after he tried to overtake another vehicle by going into the opposite lane and hitting a semi head-on Saturday. 

This collision occurred after 3:15 a.m. as the pickup truck driver was going southbound on U.S. 98 while the semi-driver was traveling northbound on U.S. 98., according to ABC Action News

The semi-truck driver and the passenger with him were spared from injuries.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – A vehicle wreck Friday afternoon left part of Interstate 275 blocked in west St. Petersburg, according to FL511 Tampa Bay.

The accident happened on the northbound lanes of I-275 at the ramp to eastbound I-175. It was first reported at about 3:32 p.m.

While the circumstances behind the event have not been disclosed, the right lane was closed in the immediate aftermath.

CLEARWATER, FL – Clearwater police suspect a motorcyclist, operated by a 19-year-old young man, was traveling at a high rate when he died after rear-ending a car last Friday. 

The Tampa Bay Times said this collision happened around 11 p.m. on eastbound Courtney Campbell Causeway. 

After first responders arrived at the scene, Clearwater Fire Rescue rushed the biker, later identified as Ramon Castro Jr., a Tampa resident, to Mease Countryside Hospital. There, Castro succumbed to fatal wounds.

TAMPA, FL – Two men sustained injuries, and another man was killed after they were hit by a driver of a semi-truck cab outside the Emperors Gentlemen Club Tuesday. 

Tampa police said this crash occurred before 4:30 a.m. They indicated that the driver of the semi was kicked out of the bar, went to their truck, and then struck several people waiting outside the entrance. 

The driver sustained critical, life-threatening injuries as a result and will be hospitalized. Police confirm the person was taken into custody and is expected to receive charges.

BRADENTON, FL – A 26-year-old man, a resident of Oklahoma City, succumbed to fatal wounds after crashing his Dodge Charger into a tree and fence over the weekend. 

Florida Highway Patrol told WFLA this single-vehicle collision happened while the man, who they suspect was traveling at a high speed while going north on U.S. 301, had lost control of his steering wheel while pursuing a left-hand turn. 

The man was found dead on Monday.

LAKELAND, FL – A box truck driver who turned right onto Main Street struck a male pedestrian walking, sending the walker to a hospital where he later passed away Thursday. 

The collision happened around 3:45 a.m. while the pedestrian was walking on a lane on northbound Combee Road, according to Fox13News

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the driver was unharmed and remained at the scene. They suspect the driver will not face charges.
