TAMPA, FL – At least one person lost their life in a collision reported in the Egypt Lake-Leto neighborhood Tuesday, Tampa Free Press reported. 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said they had to close West Sligh Avenue and North Habana Avenue to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation process. 

Deputies taking the lead on this investigation have not released a formal statement regarding the circumstances behind this crash, described the kind of people and vehicles involved, or released the victim’s name.

TAMPA, FL – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances behind a crash reported after 10 a.m. on the I-4 ramp in the East Ybor area. 

FHP indicated this collision happened at the ramp connecting to SR 585. Troopers said they arrived at the scene at 10:24 a.m. They have not closed any lanes at this time nor released information regarding the exact cause of this collision, nor have they commented on the kind of people and vehicles involved or if anyone was injured.

Tropical Storm Debby was downgraded from a hurricane this morning after making landfall in Steinhatchee along the Gulf coast.

Heay rains and winds are expected in Tampa and central Florida throughout the day today, as well as tropical storm and storm surge warnings.

The majority of Central Florida and the Bay area are under a tornado watch until 6 a.m. Tornadoes can form rapidly from passing storms originating from Debby’s outer bands.

TAMPA, FL – A 64-year-old man operating a semi-truck plowed into the Tampa Bypass Canal from I-75, leading to his death Monday, Click Orlando said. 

This collision occurred after 2:30 a.m. when the driver of the semi lost control of the truck, which caused the truck to hit the concrete barrier before going over the wall. As a result, the cab separated, and the trailer hung from the bridge and went into the canal. 

Divers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were able to recover the man’s body, which fell 40 feet below the surface and was declared dead.

SARASOTA, FL – A driver lost control of their car Monday, causing it to crash into the tiki bar at Lantern Inn & Suites, leaving a man and a woman injured. 

According to My Sun Coast, the events unfolded at around 3:30 p.m. when the driver, 63, was leaving the RaceTrac gas station. At one point, for reasons still unclear, they lost control of their steering wheel, causing the vehicle to slam into a fence and strike the venue’s outdoor bar, where the man and woman were sitting. The vehicle went on to collide with a concrete wall, sending debris from the wall onto four unoccupied vehicles. 

First responders said the female patron, 59, was seriously injured while the male patron, 69, was left in critical condition.

VALRICO, FL – A crash with injuries is currently blocking the East Brandon Boulevard and North Valrico Road intersection. 

Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene at 1:03 p.m. They have not arrived at the collision site yet or specified the kind of people and vehicles involved. 

In addition, FHP has not mentioned the exact cause of this crash.

CLEARWATER, FL – Florida Highway Patrol are currently at North Hercules Avenue and Pinehurst Drive in Dunedin investigating the circumstances behind a crash. 

FHP was dispatched to the scene at approximately 11:17 a.m. and arrived at the scene around 11:43 a.m. 

Troopers have not closed any lanes at this time. In addition, they did not reveal the exact cause of this collision, list the number of people and vehicles involved, or said if anyone sustained injuries or will require a trip to the hospital.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Fire crews were able to extinguish flames from a 35-foot cabin cruiser (near Beer Can Island), and its occupants were left unharmed Saturday. 

According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, this collision was reported around 3:25 p.m., specifically half a mile from the island. 

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Fire Boat 29, Battalion Chief 4, and the U.S. Coast Guard all responded. At this time, authorities have not been able to specify whether the fire was caused by mechanical issues or resulted from a crash.

WINTER HAVEN, FL – A driver of a gold Honda Accord plowed into a utility pole on eastbound Havendale Boulevard, causing several power outages on Sunday. 

This collision happened before 5 a.m., and the power outages were reported in all of Havendale, 20th Street, MLK, and First Street, according to Tampa Free Press

Authorities confirmed the driver was not intoxicated and managed to escape injuries. At the time of reporting, crews closed 16th Street and told drivers to take Lake Howard Drive so that they could restore power.

TAMPA, FL – A three-year-old boy took his last bicycle ride after he was fatally struck by a driver of a Toyota RAV 4 pursuing a turn along the Place One Condominiums Thursday. 

This crash happened at Pitch Pine Circle and North 56th Street, according to My SunCoast

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, who responded to the scene, said the boy’s mother and his siblings were behind him when the collision unfolded at the parking lot. When the bicycle and car collided, the toddler immediately succumbed to fatal wounds.
