SARASOTA, FL – A truck driver was turning left in the University Park area when he collided with a motorcycle, leading the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old teenager, to his death Sunday. 

This collision happened when the truck driver was turning onto University Parkway onto North Cattlemen Road, ABC Action News reports. When the two vehicles made contact, the motorcyclist had struck the left side of the truck, and the motorcyclist, a Sarasota local, succumbed to fatal wounds. 

Florida Highway Patrol, who were the first responders summoned to the scene, said that the truck driver, a 35-year-old man, also a Sarasota resident, was spared from injuries.

SARASOTA, FL – An 8-year-old boy riding a dirt bike was hospitalized for serious wounds after colliding with a police officer’s car on Monday, WFLA reports. 

This crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of 22nd Street and Maple Avenue. Upon arrival, first responders rushed the boy to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. There he had undergone surgery and is recovering. 

The police officer was unharmed and was put on “restricted administrative duty” during the investigation period.

SARASOTA, FLThe Tri-Par Estates Mobile Home Park residents are among the many who are working to restore their lives to normalcy after the powerful Hurricane Milton. 

Images from Fox 13 News show torn-off roofs and numerous twisted panels and windows scattered about following the storm surge, which was said to have been between 8 to 10 feet, according to additional data from The Tallahassee Democrat. 

While it’s unclear how many homes in the entire county have been destroyed by Milton, the Tallahassee Democrat declares that 100 homes in Sarasota alone have been hit really hard.

SARASOTA, FL – A driver lost control of their car Monday, causing it to crash into the tiki bar at Lantern Inn & Suites, leaving a man and a woman injured. 

According to My Sun Coast, the events unfolded at around 3:30 p.m. when the driver, 63, was leaving the RaceTrac gas station. At one point, for reasons still unclear, they lost control of their steering wheel, causing the vehicle to slam into a fence and strike the venue’s outdoor bar, where the man and woman were sitting. The vehicle went on to collide with a concrete wall, sending debris from the wall onto four unoccupied vehicles. 

First responders said the female patron, 59, was seriously injured while the male patron, 69, was left in critical condition.

SARASOTA, FL – Several people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle collision Sunday, ABC Action News reported. 

This crash happened before 4 p.m. at the Fruitville Road and Vic Edwards Road intersection. Police said one person suffered serious injuries. 

Officials shut down the west and eastbound lanes of Fruitville for their investigation and the scene clearance process.

SARASOTA, FL – A driver of an unspecified vehicle failed to yield and struck a second automobile, injuring both drivers and two passengers, all of whom were teenagers, Monday. 

MySunCoast said this two-automobile collision occurred after 9 p.m. at the Proctor Road and Lords Avenue intersection. After arriving, first responders closed west and eastbound lanes on Proctor and reopened all lanes along Lords Avenue. 

Authorities said the driver who failed to yield was an 18-year-old teenager who was seriously injured, and the second driver, a 16-year-old teenager, was left in critical condition.

SARASOTA, FL – An ambulance transported a 48-year-old man to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he passed away after colliding with a parked car Wednesday. 

Florida Highway Patrol told WFLA that this collision occurred after 9 p.m. in the 5300th block of Antoinette Street. 

Preliminary details from FHP indicate that the driver, for reasons unclear, lost control of his car, went right through a flower bed, came into contact with a ditch, and then crashed into a parked car.

SARASOTA, FL – A 49-year-old man riding a motorcycle fell off his bike and died after colliding with a car Thursday, WFLA said. 

This collision happened before 9 p.m. at  Fruitville Road and Paramount Drive. Florida Highway Patrol, who responded to the scene, said the crash occurred when the driver of the red car tried to turn left on Fruitville, leading the motorcyclist to hit the left side of the car and the wheel to become attached to the car. 

Troopers started an investigation and have not released other details at this time.

SARASOTA, FL – A man attempted to cross Clark Road and, during his walk, was hit by two vehicles, leading him to succumb to fatal injuries Saturday. 

ABC Action News said this crash happened near when a sedan driver first hit him and then an SUV driver. The pedestrian, who was only identified as a 40-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the sedan driver, a 24-year-old man from Sarasota, sustained minor injuries. 

The other driver, a 34-year-old man, also from Sarasota, and his passenger, a nine-year-old child, were both unharmed.

SARASOTA, FL – A 71-year-old adult died, and several were injured following a multi-vehicle wreck caused by a driver who ran a red light Tuesday. 

Florida Highway Patrol told My SunCoast that the collision happened at U.S. 301 and Northgate Boulevard. After the driver ran a red light, their car overturned after colliding with three vehicles that stopped at the red light and then rear-ended one of the automobiles. 

The passenger inside the overturned vehicle, a 71-year-old adult, died at the scene. FHP does not publicly identify the names of those killed in motor vehicle collisions but was able to confirm that the occupant was from Bradenton.
