SARASOTA, FL – At least one was entrapped or pinned inside their vehicle following a collision in the Oakwood Manor neighborhood Wednesday. 

Sarasota County deputies arrived at the scene of the crash — the Hacienda Street & South Beneva Road — before 5:30 p.m. The person was extricated, and it is not immediately clear if they were injured or what exactly led to this collision.

SARASOTA, FL – A Mercedes driver was arrested after he was responsible for fatally striking a cyclist and then leaving the scene near the John Ringling Causeway Friday night. 

Sarasota Police told My Sun Coast that the suspect was identified as Timothy Bixler. Police said they pulled him over when they noticed his vehicle consistent with damage sustained in a reported hit-and-run crash near the scene. They said he was not wearing a right sock or shoe, which was later found at the site. 

Police conducted a breath test on Bixler, “but not a blood test.” Bixler will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in another person’s death.

SARASOTA, FL – At least one person suffered injuries in a collision at 46th Street and North Tamiami Trail near the North Water Tower Park Wednesday. 

Sarasota Police arrived at the scene at 5:34 p.m. The extent of sustained injuries and the details leading up to this collision are unknown.

SARASOTA, FL – Sarasota Police were dispatched to a collision on the 1155 block of Gulfstream Avenue near Bayfront Park before 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

SARASOTA, FL – A 38-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy died in a seven-vehicle collision on U.S. 301 near Tallevast Road Friday. 

ABC Action News said a driver of a car struck a second vehicle. The impact of this collision caused the second automobile to go into a right-turn lane and hit another vehicle before rolling over. As a result, the woman and boy who were occupants of the second vehicle, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene, and four vehicles also crashed into one another, creating a domino effect. 

Troopers also said the driver of the first vehicle — a 25-year-old man — was seriously injured,, and three other occupants sustained unspecified wounds.

Deputies responded to the scene before 4:15 p.m.
